摘要：The invention relates to a method and device for influencing the longitudinalspeed of a motor vehicle during which a set minimum distance and/or a set maximumspeed can be preset by the driver, and the driver can influence the vehicle speed byoperating the accelerator pedal (6) and/or brake pedal (7). The distance (dist) from avehicle traveling ahead is measured by means of a distance-measuring sensor (3). Whenthe set minimum distance (dmin) is fallen below of and/or when the set maximum speed(Vmax) is exceeded by the vehicle speed (Vactual), the vehicle speed is limited so that theset minimum distance (dmin) is not fallen below of and/or the set maximum speed (Vmax)is not exceeded. This function is provided, in particular, in conjunction with an adaptivedistance and speed control. The driver can activate the adaptive distance and speedcontrol or the limiting function as desired.
