“Understanding, friendship, solidarity (团结)and fair competition” make up the key spirit of the winter Olympics. However, in my opinion, the key spirit of the winter Olympics is “Never give up”.
Why do I think that is the key spirit? The main reason is that sportsmen from Jamaica in the movie Cool Runnings (1993) have touched my heart. The movie is based on a true story of four Jamaican sportsman. As we all know, Jamaica is really a hot country. But in such a country, they make a decision to become bobsledders (雪橇运动员). They are so poor that they can’t afford a bobsled (雪橇). So, they use wood to make one and practice on the hills. When they took part in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, after they fell over, they carried their sled to the finish line. Though they didn’t win a prize, they finished the race. Their spirit has been encouraging me since then.
In our lives, we may have many similar difficulties. When everyone thought they would

It was a winter morning, just a couple of weeks before the New Year. Charlie, my husband, had to get up early to ride his bike to work, five kilometers away from home.
When he arrived, he parked his bike outside the door as he usually does. After putting in 10 hours to work, he returned to find his bike gone.
The bike, a red Kona 18 speed, was our only transport (交通工具). Charlie used it to get to work putting in 60-hour weeks to support his young family. And the bike was also used to get groceries (杂货) saving us from having to walk long distances from where we live.
I was so sad that someone would steal our bike that I wrote to the newspaper and told them our story. Shortly after that, several people in our area helped us. One wonderful stranger even bought a bike, then called my husband to pick it up. Once again, my husband had a way to get to and from his work. It really is an honor (荣耀)that a stranger would go out of their way for someone they have never met before.
People say that a smile can be passed from one person to another, but acts of kindness from strangers are even more so. This experience has had a spreading effect on our lives because it increased our trust among people. And it has influenced us to be more mindful of ways we, too, can share with others. No matter how big or how small, an act of kindness shows that someone cares and the results can be endless.

On a school day, 60 students at Xishan Primary School in Shunde, Guangdong, are learning how to make corn soup and fried chicken in an after-school cooking class. Working in groups of four or five, the little cooks take their duties very seriously. Soon, they are showing off their own delicious dishes.
Since last September, the school has set up after-school classes for students, with cooking classes being the most popular, said Xinhua. It comes after the “double reduction” policy (双减政策). The purpose of the policy is to reduce the amount of the homework and off-campus tutoring (课外辅导) for primary and junior high school students.
According to the policy, homework for junior high school students should take no longer than 90 minutes to finish. It allows students more free time to develop their hobbies and interests. Also, off-campus tutoring has been further controlled to improve the quality (质量) of education.
“Our homework is clearly less than before,” said 13-year-old Shen Yuzhe from Beijing. “We are not encouraged to buy workbooks anymore. The exercises are mainly from the textbook.” According to Shen, teachers have taught us more slowly in class, which gives students enough time to process new information.
