Rently, our Student Union invited a local expert on folk customs to give us students a lecture on shadow play. It started from 2:30 and lasted nearly two hours last Saturday at the school hall. All the students and teachers listened to it attentively.

Shadow play is an ancient form of storytelling and entertainment in which the performers hold the human figures made of animal skins or hard paper boards with colored paintings. The figures are reflected on the curtain through the light, singing and dancing controlled by the performers with the silk string. Its written records date from the Song Dynasty. It plays an important role in the invention of the modern movie and the development of the movie cartoons. Through the activity, we all have a better understanding of shadow play. Meanwhile, we get to like our ancient culture better.
