There is no denying that some people think that practice is more significant. Thus there is a famous saying:Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth. But I really doubt that how can we practice if we know nothing about truth. As we were young, we began to learn good qualities and etiquettes from the Analects of Confucius. We admire some great ideologists like Confucius, so we imitate them and make up our mind to be excellent as well as they did. That is the magic of reading.
Take me as an example, I believe we are never too old to read.Getting much courage from many books,I set up a positive attitude towards life. Books nourish me in every stage of my life.For instance, Scarlett, the heroine of Gone With the Wind, impressed me most as she always said:Tomorrow is another day. Whatever happens, I will be inspired by her persistence and perseverance of protecting her home. I also admire the peaceful lifestyle from Walden. What is the most exciting is that I know about distinctive customs and literatures of other countries. I see the charming landscape of Walden Pond from the book Walden. I can image the daily life of English countryside at the end of 18th and in the early stage of 19th from the description of Pride and Prejudice, a book written by Jane Austen. Sometimes I feel surprised because I realize that how ignorant I am as I read more and more books.
If we want to know how marvelous the world is, the only way is to read and appreciate. Reading is a spiritual work. No matter how busy we are, we should spare some time to share a good book with a cup of tea.
