[Class 74(ii)] The clutch of a circular machine for changing from rotary to reciprocatory knittingand vice versa, comprises a member 11 slidably keyed on a shaft 10 and having dogs 12,12a engageable with corresponding dogs 13, 13b of gears 14, 15 for imparting the rotaryand reciprocatory -motions. Two adjustable cam portions 16, 16a are centrally secured tothe member 11 and extend partly round the member to leave a gap 19 through whichpasses a roller 18 of a lever 17 each time it is desired to change the motion. The lever 17is pivoted about a shaft 24 which also pivotally supports an arm 17b connected to thelever 17 by a spring 25. A roller 23 is engaged by or freed from the influence of a cam 22each time it is desired to change from one motion to the other so that the lever 17 isinfluenced by either of the oppositely acting springs 25 or 26 to move the lever throughthe gap 19 to engage either cam 16 or 16a and move the member 11 into engagementwith the respective gear. Adjustable stop means 20 limit the movement of the lever 17.
