My Application for the Scholarship Overseas

Dear Sir，

Thank you so much for providing us with such a precious opportunity to support us to study abroad and I am writing to have you check whether I am qualified for it, longing for your approval and aid.

I personally think that I have the stuff to gain your generous help.

For one thing, with my good studying habits and abilities to learn quickly,

I have good grades and have won some awards and scholarships before. I have spent my junior and senior high school period studiously, which give me the confidence to say that I’ve already laid a solid foundation. And my GPA of the first term in the university is 90.58. Specifically, I always take tidy notes and solve questions independently and timely. What’s more, I have the carving for knowledge, the willingness to learn from others and to cooperate with others, and the abilities to innovate and to absorb in what the teachers say quickly.

For another, thanks to the experiences as a student leader of our class, a fresh worker at the Students Union, an organizer of the English Cape of Good Hope Corporation, I have improved my comprehensive abilities greatly. Furthermore, in the process of doing my voluntary work and social practice, I have learned much in the realm of management, cooperation and communication. Besides, I often took

part in contests on behalf of my class and have gained many awards. Meanwhile, I keep a good relationship with my peers. Clearly knowing what they really need, I can serve them heart and soul with high efficiency and quality. Thus, I have the confidence to say that my quality deserves your favorable consideration.

Moreover, I have determined beliefs and clear aims to devote myself to scientific research. Actually, I have been dreaming of becoming a scientist from childhood. Thus, I regard gaining your help as a great opportunity for me to get access to the new concepts and thoughts in science and the advanced technology and eventually get knowledge of the differences between our country and developed countries in terms of science, technology as well as culture. I believe I can take advantage of this experience to train myself to be more creative and independent.

Although I have been dreaming of studying abroad, it is just an untouchable dream but for the chance because I understand that my present family background just does not allow my dream to come true. So when the university announced that I have the qualification to apply for the Scholarship provided by Li RuKuan Foundation, I feel that the fortune falls to us, and I just want to seize it.

At present, I have clear study plans.

From a long-term perspective, I plan to finish my undergraduate and postgraduate courses interiorly, laying a solid foundation in my specialty, and I will still take active part in various activities in campus to improve my synthetic ability.

As a top student in my institute, now I have been admitted into the best class in which I will have a chance to gain postgraduate recommendation. Particularly, I will attach great importance to English studying, for I hope to get my doctorate abroad. After graduate school, I will try my best to gain the chance to go abroad with public expense or the full scholarship, which wouldn’t be tough by then. It’s my decision that when I finish my courses abroad, I will return home to repay our motherland. By that time, after so many years striving hard, I will be qualified for the post as a professor and be able to engage in scientific research in the end.

In a short-term, if I can get the opportunity to study abroad, I would cherish this valuable chance to promote my synthetic ability. As the famous saying goes, “The higher you stand, the farther you see”. I will make the utmost of the chance to improve myself and to fulfill my dream. There is no doubt that after learning from the excellent professors and communicating with other good students from different countries for two summer vacations, my knowledge will be increased，my creativity will be greatly promoted and my thinking will be improved. And I can make an important pace to realize my value in life.
